Stayed here with our children in April this year. We didn’t know what to expect and were slightly regretting our booking when it was bucketing it down enroute. However, when we got there, the host met us from our car and straight away immersed our kids in to farm life, including letting the kids drive his jeep to our safari tent, via a dented fence post (sorry) and some muddy pits. We had a great time here, all off grid and very atmospheric having candles and oil lamps for evening light and having to burn logs in the stove to cook your food. The owners also gave us a tour of the farm and showed us all the great things they are doing to re wild the land. If you need plug sockets and heating, this probably isn’t the place for you, otherwise, you will have a ball. We have recommended to other friends who have booked for later this year. We have since found out that Featherdown do mainland Europe and booked for August.

We stayed there last year. Not clean at all. Not sure if they expect people leaving to have cleaned up or not but it was really grim in the kitchen especially as you are cooking in there. The equipment wasn't great that was provided in the kitchen either. Happy to bring your own things if you know in advance. There was a number of us waiting to use the pizza oven on the campsite. Not very clear that everyone has to use the same one. There was mosquito larve in the hot tub and it just wasn't being cleaned enough. It is a lovely place but needs to improve the cleaning significantly. Real shame as would like to recommend it.

What a fantastic family wholesome holiday we’ve had at Upper Shadymoor Farm. We went with our 8 year old son and 6 year old daughters one of whom has disabilities. Kevan and Joy were the most fabulous hosts sharing their knowledge with us and ensuring our stay was as comfortable as possible. The kids learnt new skills and shared new experiences. This is the best family holiday we have had living a simple idyllic life for the last week. The water package is a must along with the homemade fresh bread. Highly recommend to others

We absolutely loved our stay here. The farm was fantastic and a total switch of from busy life. The hoses Kevan and Joy were super helpful and friendly and we cannot fault their hospitality. If you stay the water package is an absolute must as it is brilliant for adults and kids (ours are 2/4 years).

I had been really looking forward to visiting a featherdown farm with my family and we booked one of their surprise stays meaning the location was allocated a week before going. We were given Upper Shadymoor farm in Shropshire. The location is really idyllic and the tents are lovely. The farmer who runs it however is the rudest person I’ve ever met and that’s saying something. There is no security at night and one of the other tents was occupied by teenagers having an all night party on the first night so we got no sleep. We made the best of it as luckily only there two nights but wouldn’t return and feather down farm as a company weren’t interested in the issues we encountered just took our money! Avoid!! There are nicer farm stays that do care about their customers.
