Surroundings

Strolling through the market

Combine a visit to one of the surrounding villages and towns with a visit to the market. On different days markets are organized where you can buy local products such as fresh fruit and vegetables, but also to score the nicest souvenirs you are at the right place at a market. For example, there are lively markets in Borken, Bocholt, Winterswijk and Essen. Plenty of choice!

An outing with the kids

Take the kids to Ketteler Hof - Haltern am See, where you can climb, slide, jump, swing and more! This fun play park is a 35-minute drive away. Another fun place to go is Ponyhof Leiting, 20 minutes away. Let the kids take a ride on one of the ponies or head toward the large playground, while parents find a spot on the terrace. Looking for an activity when the weather is bad? Indoor Aquaris pool is a 10-minute drive away. Slide down the dark slide, jump off the diving board and swim in the indoor or outdoor pool. There is also a white-water course, so water rats will have the time of their lives here.

Dive into the movie world

A 35-minute drive from the glamping is Movie Park Germany. A great outing for the whole family! Come face to face with your favorite character from the film and TV world like Spongebob and The Ninja Turtles, and step into exciting attractions for young and old. With more than 50 attractions and shows spread over 5 themed areas, you'll enjoy a day of adventure and magic here.

Learn more about the planets

Make a hike or bike ride extra fun by following one of the routes created in cooperation with Nature Park Hohe Mark Westmünsterland and the Westphalian Heimatbund. For example, the Planetary Route starts right from Camping Borken am See. While following the "planet trail" you will answer questions such as "How big is the sun?" or "How many planets are there?". A fun and educational outing in nature! The route is 6 kilometers in total. So walking or biking, you can do both! If you want to follow a different route, there is also the Flamingo Bike Route, which takes you along fascinating places and landscapes. And who knows, you might even spot real flamingos!

Wonderful campsite. We noticed that the owners continue to develop the campground so every year something better is added or upgraded. + points: car-free site. Spacious. Green surroundings. Mix of mobile home, glamping tents and private Camping facilities. Basic swimming pool with separate toddler pool. Lots of play equipment for children. Lake with amenities. Climbing park, miniature golf , swimming, all within walking distance. Glamping tent very complete, completely finished. Very friendly staff. Sweet dog 😃. This campsite is very suitable for active families who also want to spend the occasional day at the campsite. 1 star less for the surroundings. It is not the most beautiful area in Germany, but on the other hand in those regions have to do without this campsite 😃👍.

Prachtige camping.

Very nice campsite. Very well maintained. We had a medium pitch with our own sanitary block. Glamping category for us. Nice staff, very dog-friendly. There are dispensers for dog waste bags on the site. The surroundings are beautiful, right next to a small and a large lake. You can go for wonderful walks in the adjacent forest. We would love to come back.

Sehr schöner Campingplatz. Sehr gepflegt.

Today was my first time eating there in company. The whole thing was almost unbeatable in terms of embarrassment and foreign shame.... not at all! It started when you get a menu and want to order. The menu says the following under the cocktails section: "Cocktails (see cocktail menu)". After my companion ordered a non-alcoholic wheat beer, I asked for the cocktail menu, which was dismissed with the statement "Cocktails are on there". In fact, there were 3 or 4 long drinks listed under the cocktails section, but no cocktails. She kindly asked her colleagues and came back with the answer: "Nope, we don't have any." I finally ordered a small pilsner. We also ordered our food. A Wiener schnitzel and a vegetable schnitzel. After receiving our drinks 10 minutes later, we continued to wait for our food. In the meantime, several wrong dishes were delivered to the next table, including a double currywurst. This was delivered to the next table as the person wanted to order this dish anyway. This table then ordered the same dish again. This happened 15 minutes after we ordered. So we waited for our food and drank our drinks. After about 5 minutes, the food for the next table arrived. We wondered what the current status of our food was, as it was not yet on our table. Nevertheless, we continued to wait. After about 5 minutes, a waitress came with two more double curry sausages and tried to get rid of them at a table. However, as no one had ordered them, the woman with the curry sausages left and formed a kind of circle of chairs with the other waitresses to find out who had ordered the curry sausages. After about 5 minutes, the same waitress came back to our table and to the next table with the two curry sausages and asked if anyone had ordered them. Both said no and the waitress left again with the curry sausages. After another 5 minutes, a waiter came and took the order from another table next to us. After this happened, he came to our table and asked us if we had already ordered. I said that we had ordered our food about half an hour ago, but that it had never reached us. After the waiter asked us again what we were getting to eat, we told him again. The waiter took this and disappeared in the direction of the kitchen. After about 5 minutes, a waitress came to our table who seemed to be having her first day in the restaurant business and without a single comment or muck gave me a plate with an unidentifiable object on it. After I thanked her, she said please and moved off to get my schnitzel. After she gave me that too, I handed the other dish to my companion. When I asked her which was the schnitzel and which was the vegetable schnitzel, she had to think for a long time before my companion explained it to me. The waitress remained at the table with a stubborn expression on her face and then disappeared into thin air. When we finally got our food, the most important thing was still missing: the cutlery. After waving again, we asked for it and the waitress gave it to us immediately. I have to be honest and say that I have never received such unpolished cutlery. The water stains on the cutlery spoke volumes. The food was fine so far (food from the deep fryer). After the bill (€40.40) almost gave me a heart attack, my companion and I left full but very dissatisfied. NEVER AGAIN!

A spacious campground,we had a camper place with private plumbing and that makes it a lot more pleasant no night walk to the toilet building. Behind the campsite light a large park with opportunities for water recreation and there is also the restaurant that belongs to the campsite. And are many nice towns nearby and the large shopping center centrO is roughly 40 minutes away by car. Also the amusement park Movie Park is 40 minutes easy to do. So the campsite is a good base for all kinds of activities.
