Ornans
The campground is located on the outskirts of the town of Orlans. This charming town has a well-preserved historic center. Walk past the cozy stores, cafes and restaurants, and take a look at the weekly market. In the area you can enjoy hiking, biking, fishing and kayaking. The Loue River is known for trout fishing, and in the hills and forests surrounding the town are many trails with beautiful views.

French Jura Mountains
A great destination for outdoor enthusiasts, the Jura is known for its stunning natural attractions, including waterfalls, lakes and gorges. The Cascades du Hérisson is a popular destination, with a series of waterfalls cascading down more than 2.5 km. Lac de Vouglans is also a beautiful place, with a large lake where you can swim, boat and fish. Don't forget to discover the delicious local cuisine, too!
Musée Gustave Courbet
The Musée Gustave Courbet is dedicated to the life and work of French painter Gustave Courbet, and can be found in his hometown of Ornans, less than a kilometer from the campsite. The artist's former family home, which now houses the museum, was built in the 17th century and has been restored to reflect the period in which Courbet lived. In addition to paintings, the museum displays drawings, engravings and photographs by one of France's most influential artists. There are also temporary exhibitions of contemporary art and photography, events and educational programs. Also take a look at the surrounding countryside, which provided much of the inspiration for Courbet's landscape paintings.

Good campsite in a beautiful location. Beware of some pitches in case of rain because they are quickly flooded and no proposal to change while some pitches are free which is regrettable.

We rented the "[...] luxury hotel on the ecological campsite [...]", a "Cottage Mahaut Prestige", for a week at the beginning of September 2024. The accommodation was very clean and equipped with almost everything. In the cottage there was an attachment, but probably not the TV to be attached. No problem, it also works without a TV. However, it is not possible without a functioning heating system at outside temperatures below 10°C. We had to ask three times throughout the day for someone to check the heating. Reception was very busy. Shortly before closing time, a slot was found to check the heating, but it ended with a shrug of the shoulders. At least we were provided with an additional, functioning radiator on request. Unfortunately, the number of electric radiators could only be operated to a limited extent. Additional stove operation was impossible. The electrical protection of the cottage was simply too low - it's not a house, as we were told. All in all, the following can be said: A nice place with nice accommodation for warm temperatures, but in terms of value not four stars, especially as no wifi is offered.

Scandalous. We came to the Roche d'Ully campsite for 2 days/3 nights. After the first day's hike, we discovered a pile of gravel a few yards from our tent, with a fresh, unpleasant smell of tar. Gravas from an earthmoving site, the smell of which was extremely unpleasant! Are we in a garbage dump or an ecological campsite? So the next morning, the smell persisting, we calmly notified the receptionist, who pretended to be surprised and told us she'd "call the digger" (knowing the great availability of diggers in August). Seeing the lack of responsiveness from our interlocutor, we insist a little to consider a more effective solution (such as a change of location for example, which will not be proposed). An angry superior then almost insulted us, saying - and I quote: "If you're not happy, you can go elsewhere! And so we did. We left the campsite prematurely following "these" assaults. What 4-star service! A disgrace! Deplorable treatment and consideration. In over 20 years of camping, we have never encountered worse treatment.... No coment

Scandaleux. No coment

Working in ecological architecture, I was naturally attracted by this 4-star "ecological" campsite. We were hugely disappointed. Once we'd digested the onerous price tag and the omnipresent marketing communication, reality immediately caught up with us: total lack of comfort; cold showers (at all hours of the day); no privacy in the sanitary facilities. And yet the green-washing is there. You're cynically reminded that you charge your smartphones with solar energy; messages urging you to behave well, illustrated by old-fashioned fairies and korrigans, make you believe that this is a responsible place. But who are we kidding? Ecology doesn't (fortunately) boil down to 3 insect boxes and some ersatz Celtic folklore. Very bad experience. Far from the frugality of some otherwise more honest campsites. I sincerely invite you to read Philippe Madec to meditate.
