Boussac is a quiet and charming town where you can still feel a truly authentic French experience. There are many historic buildings such as the castle of Boussac and the medieval church. Boussac is a lively town with a number of cafes, restaurants and stores. And the weekly market sells local products such as cheese, wine and fresh fruits and vegetables. The village is a 16-minute drive from the campground.
The Castle of Boussac (12 km).
This medieval castle dates from the 12th century and was later expanded and fortified in the 15th century. It was originally owned by the powerful De Brosse family and was later taken over by the La Tour d'Auvergne family. Among other things, it was the setting of the novel "The Lion of Flandria" by Hendrik Conscience. Now you can visit the castle and it hosts regular exhibitions. Walk through the different rooms of the castle, including the great hall, the kitchen, the chapel and the armory. Or admire the collection of works of art and furniture from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The castle has a beautiful garden and with stunning views of the surrounding area.
Les Pierres Jaumâtres
Twenty kilometers from the campground you will find a group of impressive granite rocks. The rocks are between 280 and 300 million years old and form a spectacular natural landscape. The name "Pierres Jaumâtres" comes from the French word "jaune," meaning "yellow," and refers to the yellowish color of the rocks. The largest rocks are more than 10 meters high and weigh several hundred tons. The rock formations were created by the erosion of the surrounding granite by wind and water. There are several legends and myths associated with Les Pierres Jaumâtres, such as the story that the rocks are actually giants turned into stone by a goddess as punishment for their vices.

We were for the 3rd time in gite Chasseur which is self-sufficient with a kitchen. This gite is adapted for the disabled. The host and hostess are Dutch, very hospitable, friendly and cheerful (they walk maybe one step or more too fast) You can eat very good and delicious food with them. There are several accommodations and you can also come there with your own tent, caravan or camper. The surroundings are beautiful. Furthermore, they are a part of "the French Path" which means that there is a bicycle, walking route from one residence to another, this can be found on the Internet. In short we really like to come and recommend it.
